Once upon a time, I cut my teeth in newsrooms, working long nights editing and designing layouts for a number of daily and weekly newspapers. As I transitioned from news to features and lifestyles design, I gained a little more creative freedom (and a better sleep schedule — I stopped working nights), and from there moved on to designing magazines and special sections, work I truly loved.
